Obituary for Vernon Otis Brown

Vernon Otis Brown, 85, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at his home. He was born on April 27, 1932, in Homer, Georgia to the late Frank Webster Brown and Myrtle Wells Brown. He was a retired employee of Mack Trucks, Inc., most recently as their National Fleet Account Manager.
Vernon was tirelessly committed to his life's work where he was admired by his peers and management and respected by his competitors. He achieved the illusive American Dream with his wife, Joann, having lived a full and rewarding life.
Vernon was a treasure of a person, a beautiful spirit, at all times dedicated to his family. As people of faith, he and Joann mentored their family, taught Sunday School, and always encouraged others to foster a relationship with Christ.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Matthew and Scarlet Brown of Valdosta, and Joseph and Angela Brown of Alpharetta; his grandchildren, Mackenzie Brown, Zachary Brown, and Emma Brown; step-grandchildren, Drew Correll and Will Correll; his sister, Louise McCranie of Jacksonville, Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Joann Gresham Brown, his sister, Mildred Duncan, and his brother, Donald Brown.
A visitation celebrating the life of Vernon Otis Brown will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Park Place by McLane at 108 W.
